MY WAYWARD SOLES
Finding joy in the long miles between here and there
The difficulties and triumphs of every adventure fuel me through the mundane and fill me with hope for the next adventure to come.
21 Islands
In an adventure started on bikes in Equatorial Guinea, we are aiming for a human-powered low-to-high ascents of the 21 islands sprinkled around the world with peaks above 3,000 meters (just shy of 10,000 feet). We just completed Hispaniola in the Dominican Republic and are eyeing Asia for our next ascent.

Skiing is where it all began for our family. I have spent my entire life on skis and am still searching for ultimate line. The search has taken me to mountains around the world and am planning to see if that perfect turn has been hiding in the Andes.
While distracted by our day-to-day work, we keep our feet moving with runs, hikes and wanderings where we can find them. We just hosted a virtual 40 miler and are preparing for an eventual run across the US.
The rest of the family loves to participate in every adventure they can, and I love having them with me. Short legs make for a lot of steps on longer hikes, but the girls make up for their short stature with attitude to spare.
In between working to ensure that I can’t walk in my old age, I try to get my fill of adventure by exploring new countries, experiencing new cultures and learning new languages.
